HOMeAGE Public Lecture and Training Sessions on
Ageing in Place: Rights and Voice
Wednesday 9th April 2025
Online Webinar
Background and Purpose – Current European and national policies often fail to sufficiently represent the voice of older people and address their right to age in place. There is an absence of multistakeholder integrative frameworks for the development of equitable and effective policy, leading to weaknesses in holistic responses, ageist discourses, and threats to rights (dignity; freedom; equality). Existing approaches homogenise older populations across policy areas such as digitalisation, care and social inclusion, neglecting the diversity of where they live and the needs, agency and rights violations of those in different social groups. Drawing on contributions from international scholars and practice experts, this lecture and training event will explore challenges and opportunities in relation to supporting the rights and voices of diverse older populations, in diverse contexts.
